THANK YOU to all who follow this page. Today it reached 21k followers! That figure may fluctuate in the next week or so, as there is constant movement around the edges of these numbers, but hopefully it will soon consolidate with the 21k headline. Social media is a strange thing as we all know. The page had been at 20k followers for about the past 8 years. It built up to that relatively quickly but seemed to stick somewhere in the 20 thousands. I have no explanation.Welcome to more recent followers and thank you to so many of you who have been here for well over a decade. I’m certainly not always right and we’ve had some interesting discussions over the years. I’ve learned a lot from you all. The important thing is that we’ve kept these exchanges of views well-mannered and respectful. That is something to be proud of. Thank you all for that. Let’s keep it that way.I know for certain that followers are from all over the world and from many walks of life. We all share common interests. You won’t all share all of my interests but at different points, a good percentage of you share a good percentage of my interests. That’s a community. It is one that I value greatly. You can let me know in the comments here if there are topics that you wish I’d write about more often. In deciding which photo to share with this post, I’ve opted for something both personal and nostalgic. Riding her without bridle or saddle, as I did most days, was a feeling of connection, flow and freedom that has stayed with me ever since. The animals in my life have taught me so much more than the humans. Time spent with dogs or horses is never wasted. ... See MoreSee Less
I just finished some editing fixes this weekend for my 'Dogs of the Tudors' film, so to celebrate here is a screen shot from one of the sequences we did at the lovely Hever Castle. We have a pick-up shoot this week for a sequence in the second of the two dog films and then it will just be the last minute polishes of colour grade, sound mix and, crucially, maps and graphics. Although I do the edits myself, they go to younger, brighter people for these final tweaks. That means they will now be in a queue for attention but 'Dogs of the Tudors' and 'Dogs in the Age of Revolutions' should be out on History Hit in Jan or Feb next year. ... See MoreSee Less
